Is balance boring?
Is it bullsh@t?
Is it even possible?
What do you think about balance?
To me, balance is about ups and downs; giving and taking; feeling calm and chaotic. It’s about working hard and resting hard. It’s about life feeling awful at times; other times, amazing.
I believe balance is a wild adventure!
As I’ve stressed many times, normal life is a 50/50 split of negative and positive experiences.
And the 50/50 is present in each area of our life.
Take friendship as an example.
Recently, I had some friendships end. I was disappointed because I had no idea there was any problem. I knew we hadn’t been in close contact. We left occasional messages here and there, and I just assumed they were busy and that, eventually, we’d catch up.
Lo and behold, I came to find out they met up with a mutual friend, without inviting me. I felt rejected and abandoned. It was as if I had been punched in the gut.
Thinking back over the last couple years, I have made many amazing new friends and have made connections that I’d never dreamed possible.
The point is, we lose. We gain.
We feel sad. We feel happy.
This is part of our balanced adventure!
When we understand this concept of “balanced adventure,” we stop desiring sunshine, daisies and butterflies all of the time. We understand that everything has its polar opposite and it’s all happening just.as.it.should.
We stop wishing for things that we don’t have and appreciate all that we have been given instead.
Living a balanced life is all about allowing the ebbs and flows of life to be present.
The truth is life is a wild ride. No matter what you’re going through, no matter how tough, there are always blessings.
Sometimes, you may just have to look a little closer.
Whether you are burned out, bummed out or barely breathing, living a balanced adventure is possible for you!
Why not think of life as a balanced adventure, that includes both the sunshine and the rain?
Both are needed for flowers to grow, both are necessary for a rainbow to appear!
